ACTIVE AFRICA : African Rock Safaris

Cape Rock Safari

At some point in the pursuit of their passion, every climber undertakes a road trip searching for virgin rock and new horizons to test their limits and feed their souls. South Africa offers all the elements that make up the classic road trip, with easy access on wide open roads, dramatic scenery, great accommodation, legendary hospitality and, naturally, some of the finest crags and walls in the world. Best of all, it's relatively undiscovered, so no waiting around to tackle that classic line.

The 12 day Cape Rock Safari road trip takes you to both pumping sport crags and long pristine country routes throughout the Western Cape Province. Style your way through the sport crags of the Southern Cape Peninsula, conquer the exposure on Table Mountain, marvel at the red rocks and classic lines of Montagu and thrill at the haunting solitude of the Cederberg. All this is interspersed with wine tasting and cellar tours of the famous Cape wineries, cultural glimpses of the sometimes notorious township life, visits to wildlife reserves and tourist hotspots, and time to take in some of Cape Towns famed and frenetic night life.

African Rock Safaris facilitates road trips that include not only the best rock around, but follows a regimen of 2 days climbing and 2 days touring to allow those weary tendons a rest and ensure that the climber gets the best of both worlds. While our guides are not there to guide you up the rock - that would spoil the ethic of a road trip - they are passionate rock climbers in their own right and well versed on where the best crags and walls are, equipped with all the beta relating to best times and the classic lines.

Should you require a rock climbing guide to accompany you on your adventure; this can be arranged at an additional fee.

Transport is in comfortable safari buses, accommodation in tented camps and chalets, and all your culinary needs are taken care of by your guide - all you need to do is focus on that next red point!
